applicant（応募者）…someone who has formally asked, usually in writing, to be considered for a job, an opportunity to study at a college, permission to do something etc.

probation（試用期間）…a specific period of time during which someone who has just started a job is tested to see whether they are appropriate for that job　

expertise（専門技術、知識）…special skills or knowledge in a particular subject, that you learn by experience or training
